Pole Fitting=Set pole length § Loosen so that pole sections move § Position tip at outside of little toe § Elbow at side, forearm forward § Adjust so that bend in elbow is 90 degrees § Tighten securely Adjust strap § Straps are left and right § Put whole hand thru big opening; thumb thru small opening § Secure Velcro around back of hand snug Set rubber tip § Grip pole; place behind you; tip should be flush against the ground § Twist tip so it has maximum contact with the surface. Warm up drills Shoulder Roll Drill § Pole tips at heels § Roll shoulders up around and back § Arms straight ahead § Press into poles § Feel muscles in sides of back Arm Swing Drill § Drop hands down to sides § Poles are behind you § Make sure nothing and no one is behind you § Lightly grasp pole grips § Lift tips parallel to ground § Swing arms forward and back § Swing no higher than hand shake § Keep arms straight Proper Form § Start Walking § Hands are loose § Just walk and let poles drag; Do NOT pick up § Left foot forward with right arm & vice versa – natural gait. § When comfortable, push pole tips into surface § Have the tips propel you forward § The key to benefits is the push.
