Breathing becomes easier with Nordic Walking

Head’s up for optimum breating

With proper instruction, anyone can “do” Nordic Walking, and gain the benefits. Consider your breathing capacity. When walking, there is a tendency to hunch over and let the shoulders droop. This compresses the lungs and slows the intake of fresh air. Reduced pulmonary function results, which is detrimental.

When using the poles properly your back is supported, thrusting your back into an upright position. This lends itself to keeping your head up – looking at the horizon. Not the 10 feet in front of you.

With your head up and chest out, you can actually breathe in up to 20% more air, ergo, more oxygen for your system. More O2 to enter your blood stream means you create energy more efficiently.

If you think about it and practice this, it will become second nature and when Nordic Walking, you’ll reap the benefits.
