Whole body exercise with Nordic Poles

Muscle groups with poles

Nordic Walking is a good overall training routine for the body. True, the obvious muscle group to be involved are your triceps. These are the three muscle heads under opposite to your biceps. Muscles only act in contraction, so you can  see how they will get a good workout.

This will NOT allow you to spot reduce the flabby underarms…Sorry. But you can spot strengthen. A firmer tricep coupled with weight reduction can help tighten things up.

However, they are not the only areas that will strengthen. From the diagram, it can be seen that many other muscle groups get involved. The core group consists of mostly the abdominals, the obliques and the lats. With proper instruction, these too, can be strengthened.

While walking is a superb exercise, why not get more out of it by using your upper body as well. With Nordic Walking you will engage 90% of your muscles, versus only 70% when you dangle your arms by your side.

By coming to this site, you are showing a desire to learn the correct way to drive the poles. I am in the process of creating a YouTube that will fully demonstrate the proper method. Hang in there…I’ll keep working on it.

Carpe Diem
