Cross Train – Get some other muscles involved: Swim!

While I promote Nordic Walking for Ftiness, you have to do other activities as well. I have always said, Nordic Walking, the Rowing machine and swimming are the big three routines that work your whole body.

So let’s talk swimming. I am not a good swimmer. I have never taken a lesson and my freestyle shows it. I can’t get the breathing down. I hyper-ventilate and die after 2 laps. But I can do the breast stroke all day.

I scuba dive a lot. I have over 250 dives. Well, you don’t really need to swim well to dive. Your fins propel you along. I am confident that I could breast or side stroke to get out of a jam if needed. Your wet suit keeps you afloat anyway.

So to the point – I found a great snorkel for swimming.  It is not a diving snorkel – no, this one will make you look like an alien from Beta-152 of the Andromeda  cluster. Check out the photo.  It’s from FINIS.

It doesn’t look normal…but it’s make to ride in front of your nose!!   Yup…in Front like a unicorn!   But you  keep your head underwater the whole time. Man – is it a workout! No resting coming up to get a breath. I’ve used it a few times and love it. thee only item worth mentioning is that you have this wrapped around your head in addition to our goggles. Can get tangled up.

Try it as part of your cross training.
