Nordic Walking lives in the Pacific Northwest

I want to share an excellent article by Karen Asp. When you read it, you will see that she is a Nordic Walking junkie.

Nordic walking

She is a NW champion.  I didn’t know there were Nordic Walking ”competitions.”  I guess it’s the first person to the finish line.

The piece is an echo of things I have been preaching for years. She talks about the benefits and really can motivate you to crank it up. It’s good to hear from someone other than me.

Here is the link to her article in a on-line publication called SELF. READ HERE

And here is a copy/paste of a few words to make you want to feel good about NW … and learn a thing or two.

Since Nordic walking has you using more muscles in your body at once than regular walking does, you’re also naturally going to up the intensity. Go as slow or as fast as you’d like, but whatever speed you choose, you’re still working at a higher intensity than you would be without the poles. In fact, according to the American Nordic Walking Association, you engage about 90 percent of the muscles in your body while Nordic walking.

I hope yall are out there clunking around the block. OK, it’s cold…but I KNOW in the Midwest, they are out dodging the snowflakes and raising their heart rates Nordic Walking.

Carpe Diem,

Rick
